Blaze in five-storey block of flats
Fire crew from six South Devon stations have worked through the night on a blaze at a block of flats in the Wellswood area of Torquay.
One of the residents called emergency services just after 1 a.m. on Sunday reporting smoke issuing from one of the flats and alarms sounding.
Two fire appliances and an aerial ladder platform from Torquay and another fire appliance from Paignton attended initially and a fourth appliance. shortly afterwards from Newton Abbot.
Everyone from the five-storey block of flats was accounted for within the hour, but crews continued to work on the fire with more crews joining from Paignton and Teignmouth along with specialist appliances from Martock, Totnes and Ivybridge.
