Exeter Chiefs won't parade through the city to celebrate Anglo-Welsh Cup

The Chiefs did enjoy such an honour four years ago when they first won the title - following a Sandy Park final when they beat Northampton to lift their first major trophy in more than 140 years.

That event - as last year’s open-top bus parade after the Chiefs became Premiership champions - was organised by Exeter City Council.

Radio Exe understands that talks have taken place between the council and the club - but that the Chiefs don’t want attention to be diverted from their next challenge - winning the Premiership again.

The Chiefs travelled to Gloucester last week to face West Country rivals Bath in the Anglo-Welsh Cup final, a game which they emphatically won. Meanwhile, in the Premiership, They’re currently top of the table - with a strong chance of a home play off fixture with three games to go in the regular season.
