The Exmouth RNLI Inshore lifeboat was called out around 7.40pm last night reports of people in difficulty in the river between Topsham and The Turf Locks Pub.
The group were found clinging onto their sinking sailboat.
Police and Exmouth Coastguard also assisted in the rescue.
