Campaigners in Ottery St Mary fear that the town's hospital will be closed down .... after the number of inpatient beds was cut to just three. Meanwhile a meeting to discuss the cuts to community hospital services has been postponed.
The Save our Ottery Hospital Group say the number of beds rose to nine in the winter but now six have been taken away - and the group weren't told this by the local NHS.
There are a further 16 beds for stroke patients but it's thought they'll be transferred to the RD&E in Exeter.
The group fear that, what with plans to close the minor injuries unit too, this is the beginning of the end for their hospital.
Campaigners for Ottery and other community hospitals were due to attend a stakeholder group, set up as part of a public consultation, on Monday - however the Clinical Commissioning Group announced on Friday afternoon that it had been postponed until May.
