Councillors on an east Devon committee have voted unanimously to oppose cuts at community hospitals in the area.
The east Devon committee of county councillors - which met this week - agreed to fight the loss of in-patient beds at Axminster and Ottery hospitals ... and the loss of minor injuries units at all the district's hospitals except Honiton and Exmouth.
The money-saving plans by the local NHS are currently out for public consultation, and representatives attended the meeting to explain the review to the councillors.
They said moving the beds to other hospitals would save half a million pounds and help reduce their deficit.
But the committee felt that with significant population growth in the area in the next few years, there'll be a need for more hospital beds, not fewer.
