Businesses in Exmouth's regeneration zone are being reassured that they can continue trading after the end of this month.
East Devon district council says traders in Queen's Drive who've formally asked to renew their tenancies can carry on as normal, until the necessary legal processes have been followed.
However beach hut tenants are still expected to vacate them by September 30th.
The council says a huge amount of work is going on behind the scenes with all those involved in the regeneration, including developers, tenants and lawyers - and has apologised for any misunderstandings.
