A research project is looking into the history of allotments in Exeter's St Thomas area.
The St Thomas Allotments Association has commissioned the research, but is also appealing to any local residents who've got photos of the allotments in their early days.
They go back to the 1840s when 12 labourers shared seven acres to grow wheat, barley and potatoes... but in 1942 the allotments were producing large quantities of produce, which was needed because of the privations of the Second World War.
