The number of children under five in Devon with tooth decay has been described as 'unacceptably high' by the county's Director of Public Health.
The East Devon district has the lowest rate at 19 per cent....the highest is in North Devon.
The percentage of children admitted to hospital to have teeth removed is higher than the national average.
However there has been a year-on-year decrease of 40 per cent in Devon, with 368 having extractions last year.
An education programme is to be rolled out through nurseries and primary schools.
