John Lewis has received almost 3,000 applications for the 300 jobs in its Exeter store.
It opens in autumn this year.
The shop will be the retailer’s first flexible format department store and will offer the full John Lewis assortment including fashion, beauty, consumer electronics, home and nursery.
The shop has been inundated with applications for roles ranging from section managers and specialist advisers to sales assistants and catering professionals.
