Residents in Kenton are being asked to help the county council decide between two alternative road layouts which have been tried out in recent weeks.
Both schemes are designed to improve the safety of pedestrians on the narrow section of the A379 through the village, and also reduce the risk of vehicles striking buildings.
The first trial involved traffic signals - the second controlled traffic with signs and lines, allowing room for footways on both sides of the road.
Speed surveys and traffic volumes are being assessed - but highways officials are also keen to hear what local residents thought - they can give feedback via an online consultation.
