Plans for the future of Teignbridge has been described as a 'developers' charter' that will allow huge amounts of new housing to be built in areas including Exminster.
Under the proposals, now approved in principle by the planning inspector, up to 2000 homes will be built in Exminster, on land around the Devon Hotel.
There are also plans for new homes in Dawlish, Teignmouth, Newton Abbot, Kingskerswell and Kingsteignton.
The opposition Liberal Democrat group says the ruling Conservative group have over-estimated the need for housing.
