The Devon and Somerset fire service says all 999 calls from the public will be answered during this afternoon's strike by the Fire Brigades Union.
Most fire stations will be operating as normal.
However some locations will be affected by the strike and firefighters who don't belong to the FBU are providing cover - this may mean slower response times.
Automatic fire alarms from business premises - which are nearly all false alerts - will not be attended unless it's confirmed that there IS a fire.
