Devon equestrian star Mary King has been appointed MBE following her sixth Olympics in the Queen's New Year honours list.
She won a silver medal at London 2012 riding Imperial Cavalier.
Other local people recognised include Ann Barwood from Exminster - awarded the British Empire Medal for services to Exeter Cathedral.
Professor Brian Golding from Sidmouth is an OBE for predicting hazardous weather, Julian Crow, regional director for First Great Western and Nicolas Lewis, former deputy chief executive of the South West Regional Development Agency are both MBEs.
Colin Charles Rockey, group manager at Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue will be given the Queen's Fire Service Medal.
