Cashier assaulted
Police have charged a man with robbery after an incident in a Torquay shop last week.
Officers say two men entered a commercial premises on Victoria Road at about 10pm on Tuesday 11 April, making threats and demanding money.
The male cashier was assaulted with a hammer before the two suspects left the premises with several bottles of alcohol. The cashier was treated in hospital for his injuries and was later discharged.
Patrick Grady, aged 33 and from Corfe Crescent, is due before Plymouth Magistrates today (17 April) charged with robbery and possessing an offensive weapon in public.
A 38-year-old man of no fixed abode was also arrested on suspicion of robbery and has been released on police bail until Tuesday 11 July.
Mr Grady faces another charge of robbery relating to an incident earlier in the year on Belgrave Road, Torquay, on Saturday 21 January.
