Body pulled from water on Saturday
A man's body has been pulled out of the sea at Exmouth.
The coastguard was called at around 9am on Saturday following concerns for the welfare of someone in the water. That prompted a major response from the emergency services, including the coastguard's helicopter and Devon Air Ambulance. Exmouth's RNLI inshore lifeboat also launched to help if needed.
The man's name has not yet been released but his next of kin have been informed. The death isn't being treated as suspicious.
Radio Exe has recently asked East Devon District Council why danger signs along a section of Exmouth beach have been downgraded to "no bathing zone" but has not yet received a meaningful reply.
Lifeguards were reinstated at Exmouth only last week. This weekend the service was extended to Teignmouth and Dawlish Warren.
