A Teignmouth man who drove 38 thousand miles around the world in what can only be described as an old banger is being congratulated by the town's mayor today.
Richard Matthews bought his Nissan Micra for £150 and embarked on the trip with a friend who had bought a Skoda for just £75.
He says they were curious to find out how far their bargain-basement bangers could go - so they just started driving.
They also raised 15 hundred pounds for cancer research even though they hadn't intended to - people around the world just kept giving them money, which they sent directly to the charity.
