A man is in a serious condition in hospital after he was hit by an ambulance in Tiverton in the early hours.
The 40 year old from Ilfracombe sustained life threatening injuries following the incident on the A361 after 1.20am on Thursday.
The southbound carriageway was closed for four hours whilst investigations were carried out.
Police are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.
