Remanded in custody till Friday
A man has appeared in court in Exeter accused of helping a Devon child to run away from home.
He was arrested in the north of England on Thursday 30 December following an appeal by police for the public to help find a missing girl and her father.
Although he was named by police on New Year's Day, when the 34-year-old appeared at Exeter Magistrates Court on New Year's Day, magistrates issued an order saying the child in the case should not be identified.
At some point on New Year's Day, Devon and Cornwall Police subsequently removed a statement from their website in which they provided a statement about the circumstances leading to the man's arrest.
The man has not yet entered a plea and was remanded in custody until Friday 6 January.
