Pedestrian dies near Launceston
A main route through Devon and Cornwall was closed for much of Friday after what police describe as a "fatal incident on the A30 at Launceston, eastbound on the Cornwall side of the border.
Emergency services were called shortly before 5.20 a.m. to the road at Hurdon overbridge, just before the slip road leading to the A388.
As a result of the incident, a male pedestrian was recognised as deceased at the scene. A full forensic examination of the scene took until early Friday afternoon. The road was closed in both directions for a while; and the eastbound carriageway for much longer.
Any witnesses to the incident, particularly anyone with dash cam footage, is asked to contact police on 101, quoting log number 0142 of 14 August.
