Young fundraiser cuts ribbon
Exeter's RD&E has unveiled its newly revamped Children's Emergency Department.
The new facilities include separate waiting and clinical areas for young patients, creating a more comfortable and efficient experience.
"We’re delighted to see this fantastic new facility open today, making coming to the hospital a little less scary for some of Devon’s youngest patients," said Chris Tidman, Deputy Chief Executive Officer at the Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.
The project, which began in 2022, also includes a new main entrance, ambulance bays, resuscitation bays, and a bereavement suite.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony was led by 11-year-old Tim Harvey from Cranbrook, a long-term patient who raised £2,000 for the project.
The Royal Devon Hospitals Charity is now fundraising for a new operating theatre and continues to welcome donations for the Children's ED project.
