The NHS's new one-one-one phone service for non-emergency calls goes live in Devon this morning.
It provides a single point of contact for the various NHS services, with trained call handlers supported by clinicians.
They can direct patients to out-of-hours doctors, walk in centres or late-night chemists - or call an ambulance if the case turns out to be urgent.
The launch of the service in Devon was postponed earlier this year to ensure that all necessary preparations were in place.
