A senior officer's been appointed to head crime investigation across Devon.
Ken Lamont is a former Royal Marine who joined the force in 1990 and has worked in all its different geographical areas.
He says one of his immediate priorities for the Exeter area is keeping university students safe during Freshers Week in a few days' time.. and also continuing to fight rural crime.
