Improvements to the diagnosis and care of people with dementia in Devon have led to the local NHS being shortlisted for a national award.
Doctors worked with patients and their carers, healthcare professionals and organisations from the voluntary sector.
They created a care 'pathway' which means people are diagnosed earlier and get more comprehensive treatment - they also identified areas of Devon where the services were patchy and needed attention.
Their work has been nominated for a Care Integration Award, and could also be adapted by the NHS in other parts of the country
