There's been a rise in the number of fatal accidents on local roads,
However Devon and Cornwall Police say they have no plans to bring back a specialist traffic department.
It was phased out more than two years ago as cutbacks forced a rethink of the force structure. Traffic officers were incorporated into the 'response' department to deal with emergency calls.
There have already been 32 deaths on devon and Cornwall roads this year. For the last two years the twelve month average has been 50.
