WATCH: Drama after water rose
Flooding across parts of Devon has led to nine orphaned otter cubs being relocated from an animal care centre caring from them.
The UK Wild Otter Trust flooded on Thursday 12 January. Eight of the nine orphans at the rehabilitation centre were moved to safety and then checked regularly through the night as the adapted to their temporary new surroundings.
The centre suffered some structural damage and affected a fridge freezer storing food for the animals.
Friday was spent cleaning, fixing and creating prevention methods - presumably not undertaken by the otters - including constructing three holding pens which otters can enjoy in the case of future floods.
The trust says all the cubs are safe and were never in danger as they were constantly monitored. After the hard work of the trust's volunteers, all the cubs are back in their rehabilitation pens, safe and dry.
