Court appearance follows hit-and-run
A 25-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder following a collision between a pedestrian and a car in Paignton.
Lewis McKenzie, of Queen Elizabeth Drive, Paignton, has also been charged with failing to stop after a road accident and failing to report a road accident.
Mr McKenzie appeared before Plymouth Magistrates’ Court on Saturday 13 March. He was remanded in custody and is due to appear at Exeter Crown Court on Thursday 15 April.
The incident the charges relate to took place in Foxhole Road in Paignton around 11.40 a.m. on Tuesday 2 March.
A man in his 30s who had been walking along the street suffered life-changing injures and continues to receive medical treatment.
A 32-year-old woman from Paignton previously arrested on suspicion of attempted murder has been released on police bail until Monday 29 March while enquiries continue.
