Teachers' Union opposes free school outside local authority control
There's criticism this morning of plans for a new free school in East Devon.
The proposal for a 420-pupil primary School at Broadclyst, near Exeter, will be submitted to the Department for Education by the existing school later this year.
They say new housing developments will lead to a steep increase in demand for places.
But Andy Woolley, the South West Regional Secretary of the National Union of Teachers, says it will be a wasteful expense and that schools should be in the control of the local authority.
