Devon and Cornwall Police say an operation - aimed at reducing the danger rogue hauliers cause on the roads - has been a huge success.
They stop-checked 376 goods vehicles in the two counties during a three week period last month - and detected one thousand one hundred and 64 offences.
They included drivers working over their permitted hours, or carrying insecure loads.
Fixed penalties totalling more than 34 thousand pounds were issued - and some drivers were banned from the road or had their vehicles immobilised.
