Devon and Cornwall police have been told to improve their protection of some vulnerable people - and their support for victims of domestic abuse. But the inspection which highlighted the failings generally rated the force as good.
The inspectors found Devon and Cornwall police were good at both preventing and investigating crime - and had effective partnerships with other agencies for tackling serious organised crime rings.
The force also performed well in managing offenders and working to prevent re-offending.
However there was a lack of consistency in protection for vulnerable people - and staff didn't always identify the victims of domestic abuse who were entitled to extra support.
