Police have traced 26 pit bull type dogs which had been sold illegally in Devon and Cornwall - two of them in Exeter.
One has already been put to sleep and the others have been issued with orders under which they will be destroyed if not kept under proper control at all times.
The operation began in May after a couple in Barnstaple were convicted of breeding and selling the potentially dangerous dogs.
All the dogs have been returned to their owners after a spell in kennels, prior to the court hearings, and will be monitored to ensure that they don't pose a risk to the public.
