Detectives in Honiton are urging residents in East and Mid Devon to be vigilant
It follows an increase in bank card scams known as ‘skimming’.
Devices are placed over cash machines to record bank details which can then be fraudulently used. They look very professional and can be difficult to detect.
These incidents occur mostly during the daytime at cash points in Sidmouth, Honiton, Axminster and Tiverton. Common targets are large supermarkets such as Tesco and Waitrose, however some smaller banks have also been affected.
The suspects are believed to be part of organised groups and are described as white foreign nationals.
