Devon and Cornwall police have welcomed figures showing a fall in crimes last year, following a worrying rise in offences the year before.
There were six thousand fewer offences recorded in the 12 months to March 2013, than in the previous year.
Burglaries, vehicle crime and robbery have all fallen.. and while the figures show more sexual offences, this could be because more are being reported.
The police and crime commissioner Tony Hogg says he intends to continue the general downward trend by maintaining police officer numbers at their current level.
