Security guards at Exeter's Princesshay shopping centre are being given extra powers to help them control anti-social behaviour more effectively.
The centre is the latest to join a police scheme under which staff involved in tackling minor offences and disorder are accredited with some minor police powers, enabling them to confiscate alcohol in no-drinking zones, stop vehicles and issue fixed penalty notices for littering.
They don't have powers of arrest and will call on officers to deal with anyone becoming aggressive.
They'll also be working more closely with local officers.
