A conference at Exeter University today will be looking at the potential medical uses of a gas mainly associated with having a disgusting smell.
Hydrogen Sulfide is notorious for reeking of rotten eggs - but research has found it can be used to help treat an impressive range of medical conditions - including diabetes, cardio-vascular disease and some cancers.
They first became interested after finding that the body naturally produces small quantities of the gas.
Scientists from around the world will be in Exeter to explore the possibilities.
