The police and fire crews spent the early hours of this morning searching Exeter Quay after reports that someone was spotted in the water.
Emergency services were called to the Quay just before one o'clock and Specialist Water Rescue Teams from Exmouth and Bridgwater conducted a search of the water.
The search was eventually called off three hours later, with the fire service saying that it proved inconclusive.
