Exeter University is one of 61 institutions involved in strike action today.
Lecturers who are members of the University and College Union have voted in support of strike action in a dispute over pensions.
At Exeter University, around 20% of teaching staff voted in favour of walking out.
On its website, the university says they don't anticipate any widespread disruption and that plans are in place to minimise impact on students.
Staff will walk out for 14 days over the next 4 weeks.
Students at Exeter have launched an online petition calling for compensation for lost lesson time.
