Christmas Day special from Xpression FM
Student broadcasters at Exeter University have bagged a Christmas Day slot on Devon’s Radio Exe.
The ‘Xpression on Exe Takeover’ presented by politics student Ben Dunkley and Finn Aston, who studies communications , are station manager and head of news respectively at university station Xpression FM. Both are 21-year-olds who complete their degrees in Exeter next summer.
Finn joined Radio Exe on a work placement as part of his course in 2024, and has produced and presented a podcast for Radio Exe about student housing in the city which has had 25,000 downloads. He is now also a newsreader on Radio Exe.
The Xpression on Exe Takeover’ features a mix of music and short features from Xpression FM, as well as allowing student presenters the opportunity to broadcast on a commercial station across Devon.
Ashley Jeary, programme manager and drivetime presenter at Radio Exe, said: “We have a great relationship with the University of Exeter, and regularly have students with us on work experience. This year, we’re going a step further and letting Xpression take over a slot on Christmas Day. They’re sure to bring creativity, energy and a youthful outlook to Radio Exe’s Christmas programming.
