The annual Ten Tors expedition on Dartmoor has begun this morning - with two thousand 400 teenagers setting out to hike 35, 45 or 55 miles.
They take part in small groups without adults, but with the Dartmoor Rescue Group and many other support services on hand in case of any problems.
This year sees an expansion of the Fresh Tracks category in which young people with special needs do a 14 mile walk, accompanied by three Dartmoor ponies.
