A public inquiry into controversial plans to develop a green space near Topsham resumes today.
Local residents are expected to be out in force to show their objection to the proposals - which were refused permission by Exeter city council.
The developers have applied to build a care home and dozens of houses and flats for elderly people on the land near the rugby club known as the Topsham Gap.
The application was turned down partly because the land is designated as an area to be kept free of development.
