A flood response exercise in Topsham has been hailed as a success.
A group of local residents have been trained and equipped as flood wardens, following the severe flooding in February last year.
Yesterday evening they put their preparations into practice, deploying along the riverside as if there'd been a real incident, and residents were helped to put up their own flood defence boards.
Several who were having problems were helped by the wardens, and the exercise also involved the Environment Agency building a wall of sandbags, and advice from the fire and rescue service.
