Aggressive behaviour drops
Torbay's anti-social behaviour squad was kept busy last year, achieving many successful outcomes.
Residents in an area of Paignton are enjoying some peace after a noisy neighbour was ordered to leave his flat after making threats and playing very loud music.
The team also took swift action against a dog owner who used their animals as a weapon to intimidate others.
The successful outcome was one of many achieved in 2025 by the team and other teams at the council, who have worked alongside neighbourhood policing teams to keep the Bay's town centres safer.
The team's increased visibility and hotspot patrols have been instrumental in achieving a 56% decrease in begging and a 26% decrease in aggressive behaviour around the town centre.
David Thomas, the leader of Torbay Council, has commended "they're hard work teams in gathering crucial evidence to ensure successful prosecutions". He's also encouraging businesses to sign up to the UKPAC scheme, a useful reporting tool.
Taxi Marshals in Torbay and Paignton are also getting a boost with travellers being urged to download the Travel Guardian app to stay safe when they’re out in the evening.
Stagecoach’s number 12 night bus will continue running until at least April, thanks to extended funding from the Police and Crime Commissioner’s office.
