Research by Exeter University has found that mindfulness-based cognitive therapy, or MBCT, could be a good alternative to medication when treating depression.
It was the first large study to compare the effectiveness of the two, in preventing a relapse in depression.
It found that MBCT may offer a similar level of protection by teaching sufferers to recognise and respond constructively to the thoughts and feelings associated with relapse.
