Police are trying to establish how the lady in her 80s came to be in the water.
Officers have confirmed a woman recovered from the water in Torquay yesterday morning (Wednesday 22nd May) has died.
Emergency services were called at 8am following concern for the welfare of the woman.
The woman, in her 80s was given CPR at the scene by paramedics, but died later at Torbay Hospital.
Her next of kin have been informed.
Police are conducting enquiries to ascertain how the woman came to be in the water but her death is not believed suspicious.
