Crews say an early call made all the difference.
A woman and her pet rabbit and rat have been rescued from a heavily smoke-logged house in Exmouth.
Crews were called to Lovelace Crescent just after 8pm on Monday (7th October).
They say alarms were sounding and that "minutes really did make a difference".
The police are now investigating the cause of the fire.
Fire crews added in their Facebook post: "If there was ever a good reason to test your fire alarm on #TestItTuesday, this is it!
