More Information (Radio Exe is not responsible for external websites)
Saint Nicholas, most known as the origin of Santa Claus, was an historical saint, though little is known about his life. Rather a vast amount of myths comprise much of what is known. Eight hundred years after his death, his body was ‘removed’ from its tomb in Turkey and taken to Italy, and from there a vast Western European cult of the saint began, as well as parts of his body, his ‘relics’ being scattered around the world. This talk by St Nicholas Priory History Group member Ben Clapp discusses the life, the myths, the relics of the Saint, and its relation to our own St Nicholas Priory.
