It happened in the early hours of Bank Holiday Monday (27th May).
Police have confirmed a local man remains at the RD&E after his car left the road and hit a lamp post and trees.
The 19 year old was taken to hospital after the collision on Marine Way in Exmouth at 2.25am yesterday (Monday 27th May).
The A376 was closed for more than 8 hours for a forensic examination and inspection by Devon Highways.
