A39 was closed for more than 6 hours
Police were called at around 7.45am to reports a tipper lorry had struck a female pedestrian on the A39 just outside Barnstaple.
Officers say tragically the 59 year old local woman died. Her next of kin have been told.
The A39 was closed for more than 6 hours near the Roundswell Roundabout.
Anyone who witnessed the incident or who may have dashcam that could help police are asked to contact 101, quoting log number 0089 for 10 January.
North Devon Council has tweeted to say their thoughts are with her family.
