Labour, Conservatives, UKIP and Greens all get seats in South West Euro elections
Labour, the Conservatives and UKIP all have reason to celebrate in the local European elections.
Although polling took place last Thursday, the results were only announed overnight.
Labour won in Exeter. UKIP in East Devon. And the Conservatives in Mid Devon, where it was very close. Just 30 more voters chose the Tories over UKIP at the count in Tiverton.
The votes get amalgamated into a larger South West region, with six seats being awarded by proportional representation. Labour get back the seat they lost in 2009. The Conservatives have two seats. UKIP two. And the Greens one.
The Liberal Democrats now have no MEPs in the south west. Sir Graham Watson, who'd been in the European parliament for 20 years, lost his seat.
