Presumed arson after theft fails
Three antique tractors, worth more than £35,000, have been destroyed in what's being treated as an arson attack.
A fire at a farm Southleigh, near Colyton in East Devon on Sunday night was originally described by the fire service as having damaged "agricultural equipment" along with a nearby car.
Now police say they believed an attempt was made to take the tractors but when that failed, the barn was set alight.
It's thought the fire was started deliberately between 8pm and 10pm on Sunday 11 April, at Wiscombe Farm, Seaton Road, Colyton. The owner of the tractors checked the barn at about 8pm, and it was locked and secured, but the barn was found to be well alight two hours later.
Police are calling on anyone who was travelling along the road at around the time of the fire and may have seen anything suspicious, people or cars around this location, to come forward.
If you witnessed the incident or have any information that could help, email police at 101@dc.police.uk or call 101, quoting crime reference 028674/21.
