Police have launched an appeal for information after a 15-year-old girl was sexually assaulted last week in Teignmouth.
The incident happened on Thursday 27 February at 7.45pm as the victim was walking from the train station along Lower Brimley Road.
In a statement, police said: “She was approached from behind by an unknown male who groped her bottom before grabbing her around the throat.”
The offender subsequently ran off along Lower Brimley Road in the direction of Haldon Avenue.
He is described a white male aged in his late teens to early 20s, approximately 5’8” tall and of slim build with short brown/blonde hair. He was wearing a white top with thin blue stripes.
Police are continuing to monitor the area, secure CCTV footage and forensic evidence.
They would like to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time who may have witnessed the incident or seen the male offender before or after the attack.
Officers understand there may be a witness who was putting their bins out for collection along Lower Brimley Road at the time the offender ran off.
Anyone with relevant information is asked to email 101@dc.police.uk or call 101 quoting CR/17422/20. Alternatively reports can be made anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
